    Do we have to look at "KOS" only by the cards of historical chronicles? It won't be full picture. Many people see only an external form of presentation, but they don't see repeated many times trainings, which need an excellent form and many renouncements. This is a base for achieve great technique, which causes high places at festivals and folk meetings, both at home and abroad.

    Thanks to great engagement of its members, "KOS" can boast of many distinctions, which it has won at folk festivals. The first bigger prize was the 1st place and a cup at the 6th All-Polish Folk festival in Płock in 1972. Next first rewards "KOS" won at the All-Polish Survey of Amateur Artistic Groups in Werbkowice in 1977, at the 1st and at the 4th International Folk Festival in Lublin in 1985 and 1988.

    The greatest abroad achievement was the 1st place and "The Gold Karagoz" at the International Folk Festiwal in Bursa (Turkey) in 1989. Besides that "KOS" won the 1st prizes at the International Folk Festiwals in: Jambes (Belgium) in 1974, Marburg (West Germany) in 1976, Lamezia Terme (Italy) in 1982.

    The Folk Dance Ensemble "KOS" also has: Medal of the National Education Board, Gold Honorary Award of Village Youth Union, Award "For merits for the Lublin region", Medal of Varsovian Military District, medals of Presidents of: Lublin, Petina (Italy), Szolnok (Hungary).

1972 - distinction and a cup at the 6th All-Polish Folk Festival in Płock;

1976 - "The Silver Rose of Copenhagen" at the "people to people" festival in Copenhagen (Denmark);
1976 - the 1st Prize at the International Folk Festiwal in Marburg (West Germany);
1977 - Award "For merits for the Lublin region";
1977 - the 1st Prize at the All-Polish Survey of Amateur Artistic Groups in Werbkowice;
1978 - Award of Polish Socialist Youth Union Council for artistic work;

1979 - the 1st Prize at the 4th International Folk Festival in Marburg (West Germany);
1982 - the 1st Prize at the International Folk Festival in Lamezia Terme (Italy);

1983 - Medal of 35th Anniversary of memorial Wanda Kaniorowa Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of the Lublin Land;
1985 - the 1st Prize at the International Folk Festival in Lublin;
1987 - Honorary Diploma of the Arabic Culture Ministry of the Republic of Egypt;
1988 - the 1st Prize at the International Folk Festival in Lublin;
1989 - "The Gold Karagoz" at the International Folk Festival in Bursa (Turkey);
1989 - Medal of Literature and Art Workers Associations Union;
1990 - Honorary Diploma at the International Folk Festival in Odoorn (the Netherlands);
1994 - Medal "For merits for culture progress in the Lublin region";
1995 - the 1st Place in Vocal and Dance Groups Category at the Young Talents Survey in Lublin;
1995 - the 1st Place in the Competition of Lublin Amateur's Scene;
1995 - the 1st Prize and the Cup of Lunartów Mayor;
1996 - distinction at the International Folk Festival in the Czech Republik;
1997 - the 1st & the 2nd place in under 16 years old category and the 3rd place in above 16 years old category at the
All-Polish Folk Dance Competition "Rose of Ursynów" in Warsaw.

   Above mentioned awards are great achievement of "KOS', but it isn't full picture of its artistic activity. For the folk group every performance is a kind of achievement.

    As the "KOS" achievements we have to approve its contacts with many foreign folk groups and entertaining them every year in Lublin.

   In its history the Folk Dance Ensemble "KOS" has danced about 4000 performances, it has visited 22 various countries. Only in the longest tour in 1990 (the Netherlands, Switzerland, Liechtenstein) it gave 38 performances in 30 days time; it travelled about 8000 kilometres. There was a great number of lookers - 40 000 persons. Since 1964 "KOS" performances have been looked by about one million people.
